Sweden, Finland, and NATO

 Two Longstanding neutral nations are considering joining NATO. They for some reason feel swayed by the Russian invasion of the Ukraine  because of the alleged brutalities that have occurred in that nation . These  brutalities have according to several sources have been either staged or have been negatively reported by the US and Western Press. There is a slant in favor of the Ukraine that is obviously pro NATO. But that is not the real reason for this article. There is an element of absent-mindedness about what fascism is that escapes the minds of millions in Europe. There is the idea of antisemitism as well as racism being  quietly ignored in the both the United States and Europe . It is if the concern over George Floyd is being forgotten as pictures of the banner of NATO and the Red and Black swastika being carried side by side. It as if millions of lives lost fighting for an end of racism and against the extermination and enslavement of most of the human race. We seem to feel that there is a moral cause when the lives of those who have blue eyes and blonde hair, and Aryan blood are killed as opposed to those who have so called weaker backgrounds. When the U.S. is accused of racism by the People’s Republic of China, we cannot hear the comments . Anti-Communism rings within our heads and nothing else matters in the realm of morality. We do not cry genocide even when the Communist Party of Indonesia is nearly completely eradicated. Those lives do not matter. The communists just got what they deserved. The numbers are huge  compared with Bucha. The fact that Herman Goring’s father participated in massacre far worse in Namibia involving rape and pillage does not matter to the numbers alleged dumped into the grave. The Azovstal steel plant siege is made to look like the Alamo. Perhaps that is the intent. A siege where those fighting for slavery would hope for merit. Perhaps this is a way of ignoring the fate of the six  million Jewish people who died in concentration camps. Maybe it is a way of ignoring the use of bullets to slay these people at first then the use of gas as well as disease. Maybe the Russians should be told that they are being unduly paranoid when thirty million of them died during the ‘Operation Barbarosa” Do we ignore the small things like allowing refuges of all colors to escape? Do we ignore the attacks upon people of African and Asian descent who would also like to escape with their families from the scourge of War. Do we simply stand by and believe that the lines of escape are for Ukrainians only. Besides, as one official put it, do we believe the lives of those who have blue eyes and blond hair are more important. Somehow the lives of Ukrainians can be lost , their heads bagged and their throats cut if they go through the wrong checkpoint. Where is the UN? Why do people forget the human rights of others? Why do people ignore the UN Declaration of Human Rights? Svoboda and The Right Sector are allowed to openly to speak of the punishing the Jewish people in the same matter as they did in World War II. We hear the old words that we thought were forgotten when people refer to Blacks and Jews. The  negative words beginning with “K” and “N” come forth from their mouths and the threats that they will not give into any peaceful negotiations reached by Russia and the Ukraine if these negotiations are not to their liking. We are willing to encircle Russia, China, Korea and Vietnam and anyone else who decides to stand in the way of US imperialism and NATO expansionism. Besides modern weaponry has always been the answer to people of color who have decided to fight for the peace, security, and liberation of their nations.

            As early as May 16, 2022, Sweden will begin formal application for NATO. One wonders how the population of Sweden can hope to reconcile it is desire for peace and  the eradication of climate change with the unity of those factions in the far right who are militantly opposed to these ideals. Is education, peace, and prosperity the goal of the Socialist Democrats, Sweden’s largest party, or is it racism? Is black skin that abhorrent?

            Finland fought as an ally to Hitler’s Nazi  Germany during the Second War. It took a negotiated settlement to prevent the lost of Soviet and Finish blood on the “dragon teeth” defenses created by the Finish military. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt asked Finland to disassociate its ties with Nazi Germany and Finland complied. Finland before had chosen the path of Independence after the Russian Revolution of 1917.  Lenin and the Communist Party agreed with this. Finland was allowed to leave and only after the red army forces were disarmed by the whites did the relations begin to sour. However, peace was ultimately made with Finland and the fear of invasion by the Russian people slowly disappeared.

Why do we need peace? Based on what we know about Covid 19,Nagasaki and Hiroshima , it would be in humanity’s interest to prevent the escalation of the current conflict.  We simply cannot afford a war. Recently, in the U.S., the deaths from Covid 19 reached  one million. The disease has not stopped spreading. Soldiers killing each other, with and without masks are spreading the pestilence rapidly. There cannot be much protection on the battlefield. Especially from a disease that can be spread from the air, food, urine, feces and cardboard surfaces. It is hard to wipe surfaces down when someone is shooting at you.

So what are the effects of the nuclear weapon and what does Covid 19 have anything to do with it? Part of the reason atomic weapons are so dangerous is due to the radiation sickness that is caused by it. This alone is life threatening. However, this radiation also has the effect of causing an increase in autoimmune disorders such as thyroid disease and diabetes. These are brought about by increased levels of radiation. As you know diabetics and people who suffer from other immune deficiency diseases are threatened by Covid 19.

            No one wants to see a nuclear war. But what of the unthinkable happens. We don’t dare speak of it. We believe the Russia-Ukraine war is a conventional conflict. We need not worry about the atrocities on both sides nor the possible threat of a nuclear war. This is what the average person believes. There is an attitude that this is a “small” war. Many refer to this as “Putin’s War” However, with other large neutral nations suddenly joining NATO this war slowly becomes an unthinkable one. This war becomes larger than a European war. This war that has damaged Europe politically, socially , ecologically, and financially becomes not just continental but global. There is a short leap from this stage to the use of weapons of mass destruction. At first chemical weapons and then to tactical nuclear weapons. The problem is tactical nuclear weapons range in size from small ones such as the 15 kiloton “Little Boy” used in at Hiroshima, Japan to a W85 used in Pershing surface to surface missiles systems that are 80 kilotons. These weapons can be fired by missile or conventional artillery and are surface to air ; surface to sea; sea to surface and air to surface missiles . This escalation would lead to massive evacuations and the displacement of refugees. This coupled with the spread of Covid 19, a disease that has not disappeared.

            If one believes in bringing peace to Europe one must look to something that leads to mutual harmony and dialogue rather than military alliances and the manufacture of expensive armaments. Covid -19 and the destruction  brought on by nuclear and conventional warfare are real. Humanity cannot afford to lose the planet. Humanity cannot afford radiation sickness and mutations. Pestilence,  racism , religious and national prejudice is something humanity cannot afford. Peace , on the other hand, is something we need.
