Did God create the universe?
The main issue of most
modern scholars is whether God actually created the universe. They believed in
a spontaneous occurrence. Some believe in an explosion or a “Big Bang”. There
other theories but since I don’t have much time to expand upon them all . I
will just deal with a brief synopsis of one.
Eons ago a very large explosion took place. From this
explosion particles of debris and matter, according to one group of scientists,
formed what we know as the first galaxies. Each of these galaxies revolve
around the center of a super cluster. These super clusters revolve around the
center of the universe. This center is the place where the explosion first
occurred. Every super cluster and the galaxies within them rush away from the
center of the explosion. We live in what the scientists call the Milky Way
galaxy. This galaxy has approximately 100 to 400 billion stars within it. These
stars were formed, according to scientists, over 12 billion years ago. When the first stars formed they were
revolving pieces of matter. These swirling pieces of hydrogen, helium and other
matter became a system of whirling matter, exploding, changing and cooling
until the mass became a swirling hot glowing ball of heat, light and radiation
that we call our sun. Many of the particles and debris that circled this sun
gradually coalesced and became cooler masses of matter known as the nine
planets of our solar system. Some scientists believe that we have but eight
planets. Pluto is little more than a larger asteroid that circles the sun. Of
these planets, the third from the sun, is the Earth. This is the planet we call
home. With that done, we can rest
assured that the church can give up to the Lord without insulting Copernicus.
Communists who
believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord are Christians.[see John
10:25-26 (KJV)]. Christians can understand that space is a vacuum. It is a
void. At one time, according to the scriptures “… the earth was without form
and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep…Genesis 1:2 (KJV). Years
ago the United States launched what was called the Gemini project. The Gemini
project was a series of space ships launched to orbit the earth. It was a small
two person space craft ;whose purpose was to examine how many revolutions the
space craft could take around the earth; test new orbital maneuvers; including
rendezvous and docking; take pictures of the earth; and test “Extra Vehicular
Activity” i.e. the effect upon a human being walking in space. Finally its
objective was to develop techniques for advanced space travel, notably those
necessary for Apollo, whose objective was to land a man on the moon. http://www.enwikipedia.org/wiki/Geminiproject
Humanity learned several things during this project. For
the first time humanity would walk and move in the void we know as space.
“Space is the void that exists beyond any celestial body including earth. It is
not necessarily empty but contains a low density of particles, predominately hydrogen
plasma, as well as electromagnetic radiation magnetic fields, and neutrinos.
Theoretically, it also contains dark matter or dark energy. The New Oxford
Annotated Bible states “ In the beginning when God created the heavens and the
earth the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep , while a wind from God
swept over the face of the
waters” Genesis 1:1-2 (NSRV).
The sun gives heat, light and radiation. This light
travels in the form of radiation and strikes the earth during its twenty –four
hour revolution and gives the light of day.
Believing in the word of Lord isn’t difficult, why do we believe? Why is
this necessary? This is a church. Remember the Gospel. This is not a public
school. We came here to hear the gospel.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were
made by him and without him not anything made that was made.” John 1: 1-2(NLT)
If
we believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior and Lord, He is the light. He was here
when the world began for wisdom is the word.” And the word was made flesh and
dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 (KJV)
What does this have to do with evolution? Plenty, it
means that a Christian can accept Darwin’s theory. He or she can accept and use
scientific theory and law. We are not ostriches with our heads in the ground.
We love humanity and the world and seek an end to pollution and global warming.
